The Super Dog Chew is an easy-to-digest and nutrient-balanced dog chew prepared from the traditional, artisan hard cheese of the Himalayans. Our chew is made from only single  all-natural ingredient, milk from cows making them a healthier and safer alternative to rawhide chews. They are an excellent source of protein and contain:

• NO lactose, gluten, grain (including corn, soy or wheat) or binding agents.
• NO artificial colors, preservatives, flavors, chemicals, additives or rawhide.

After milking the cows, the following manufacturing process is completed using centuries-old traditional methods, utensils, and tools.

• The milk is boiled for 4-5 hours and then poured into a traditional hand-cranked centrifuge barrel to extract most of the fat. The fat is then further boiled to prepare ghee, a type of local butter and sold as a separate commodity.
• Once the fat-free milk has cooled down, every 100 gallons of milk is treated with lime juice (10 ml) and salt (10 mg). The mild acid begins to coagulate the milk. Once coagulated, the solids are then separated using a burlap sack (another traditional process). The sack of solids is then washed several times with warm water to remove the whey (which contains most of the lactose), salt and lime juice.
• The cheese is then wrapped in burlap sack – and depending on the temperature and humidity of the room – is pressed for 2-3 days forming soft cheese forms. Next, the soft cheese is placed over a fire where the smoke ferments it.
• The soft cheese is then kneaded until well-blended and then cut by hand into appropriate sizes or molds of different sizes and shapes. The cheese is then sundried to the perfect hardness and texture (approximately 2-3 months).
• Due to its traditional handmade process, each Super Dog Chew may have a slightly different look or tint.

Generally speaking this is our recommendation for sizing:

Small  is recommended for dogs below 7 kg

Medium  is recommended for dogs 7-15 kg

Dogs say, “Bigger is better!” You can always give larger chews to smaller dogs without any problem.

Going up in size is never an issue and is completely appropriate; however, we do not recommend giving your dog a smaller size than the recommended weight classification as this can cause potential choking or blockage issues. If your dog has a larger mouth and jaw (example, Pit Bull) or is a voracious chewer then it is recommended to size up.
If it appears as though your dog is going to swallow the entire product or a large piece at any time, then it should be taken away and can be reintroduced at a later time if appropriate. In fact we would recommend that all dogs be supervised at all times after being given any toy or treat not just our chews.

If you have strong teeth, absolutely, but we do not recommend it! However, we eat our Super Dog Chews all the time. Yes that’s right, we personally taste every batch ourselves. If it is not good enough for us then it is not good enough for your dogs.

Our nutritious chews are something your dog can play with and chew all day. The chew stays resilient for hours, even for an entire day. It’s a healthy and safe way to occupy your dog and keep them from becoming bored and engaging in destructive behavior while satisfying their natural need to chew.

Like any other chews, Super Dog Chews are for supervised consumption only. Select a chew slightly larger than your dog’s mouth and monitor to insure that treat is adequately chewed prior to swallowing. Always provide adequate fresh drinking water.

Super Dog Chew is a treat and must not be substituted for meals nor it is intended to be fed as a meal. We recommend giving 2-3 Super Dog Chews during a one week period. Always provide adequate fresh drinking water.

Super Dog Chew lasts fairly longer than other chews that are available in the market. It is such a long lasting chew that even an avid chewer would take hours and hours of voracious chewing if not days to fully consume it.

When a small piece of Super Dog Chew is leftover, it can be placed in a microwave for 40 seconds or until it puffs up and can be given back to your dog after it cools down for at least 2 minutes. If the piece is too small – and could pose a potential choking hazard to your dog – throw it out. Always supervise your dog while chewing smaller pieces and provide plenty of fresh water for them to drink.

Our Super Dog Chews are great because there is minimal waste to them. When your dog chews the chew down to a small “end nub” piece where you would normally toss it due to potential choking or swallowing hazards, you can pop it in the microwave for 45-60 seconds (based on an 1100 watt microwave – add 10 second increments if not fully puffed) and it will puff up into a crunchy cheese puff treat that we call Super PUFFS. Just place the piece in the microwave (NOT recommended to put on a paper towel), puff up, let it cool for 2 minutes and your dog will have a new exciting treat to enjoy!

When your dog has not consumed the whole chew and you want to store it away make sure the Super Dog Chew is fully dried before storing. Any contact with water or moisture for prolonged hours will make the chew go bad especially when the dog is not chewing.

The Super Dog Chew has to be completely dried before it can be appropriately stored. After drying, we recommend that you wrap Tibetan dog chew in a paper towel or a piece of dry cloth and put it inside the original packaging without closing the zip to allow ventilation. If you do not have the original packaging simply wrap it in a paper towel or a piece of dry cloth and store it in a high and dry place. Never store together fresh chews and chews already introduced to your dogs.

As you know, Super Dog Chew is a handmade artisan cheese from the centuries old authentic recipe  in the Himalayan region of Nepal. The difference in color, shape, size, appearance are all inevitable part of the product and should not be confused with a chew gone bad. The only way to tell if the chew is bad is when you see signs of mold growth; patches of white/bluish green fibrous spots on the chew. If this happens while still in its original packaging please do NOT feed your dog and contact us immediately for a free replacement. Super Dog Chew is 100% cheese and the holes are not made by the mice nibbling away the cheese! Instead they are called “eyes” in the cheese world and are formed by trapped gas bubbles which are released during the cheese making process. This is one of the inherent characteristics of Super Dog Chew.

Always buy and feed the proper size chew for your dog. All our chew products are based on the dog’s size and their individual chewing habits.

• Do not feed puppies the hard, large dog chew.
• If the chew is too hard for your dog, dip it in a bowl of boiling water for 5-10 minutes to soften it. (If the chew is large, keep it in the boiling water for a few more minutes.) Once the chew is soft, you can cut it into smaller pieces. Make sure the chew is completely cooled off before giving it back to your dog.
• If a small piece of the Super Dog Chew is left, place it in the microwave for 40 seconds or until it puffs up again. Make sure it’s completely cooled down before giving it back to your dog (at least 2 minutes). If the piece is too small – and could pose a potential choking hazard to your dog – throw it out. Always supervise your dog while chewing smaller pieces and provide plenty of fresh water for them to drink.
